Why I joined the Pwersa ng Masa

I officially became a member of the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino for many reasons, not the least of which is my sense of loyalty to both President Joseph Estrada and Makati Mayor Jejormar Binay.

More importantly, I believe in what the party stands for and what I can do to help the Pwersa attain its goals.

I am a businessman. By the grace of God and through sheer hard work, I have been able to set up a number of successful businesses. As an economist, I see what ails our country and why so many of our people remain poor. I see the lack of development and the absence of enough opportunities for our people.

My field of specialization is the IT industry. In this fast-growing segment are unique opportunities for the Philippines and the Filipino people to move ahead. From experience, I know that one does not have to be so well off in order to make it in this field. One simply has to have a little creativity and the capacity for smart work. We Filipinos are not lacking in either.

In my own humble way, and as part of the Pwersa ng Masa, the business and IT communities will have a voice. My being a card-carrying member puts me in a position where I can help set the policies of the party for the common good.

On several occasions, President Estrada invited me to visit the countryside. What I saw and what I learned were eye openers. I saw extreme poverty up close. I told myself that this is the party that can do something about this sad state.

The Pwersa ng Masa is the best vehicle for me because I share its vision of alleviating poverty and giving Juan dela Cruz and his family a brighter future. My background and experience tells me how to achieve these lofty goals.

We all believe in the saying, God helps those who help themselves. We at the Pwersa ng Masa envision a society that will give every Filipino the opportunity to help themselves, through a working partnership between the private and public sectors.

Now more than ever, the Filipino people must stand united. The ills of this present administration must be undone. The Pwersa ng Masa has within its ranks a number of leaders who can serve to unify us. Let it go on record that I had been invited to join not one but two other opposition parties, but I chose the pro-poor and pro-Filipino Pwersa ng Masa.

I am proud to be their newest member.
